ProSeam felts are woven seam felt designs with either a double or a triple layer structure. Their success lies in unique weave patterns combined with seam reinforcements to satisfy even the most demanding requirements. The new product family offers numerous benefits for paper producers: maximum safety paired with less manpower and reduced installation downtime, simpler seaming, perfect paper quality during the entire felt life thanks to a marking free seam, high yet stable dewatering performance and extremely stable machine runs with a long service life potential thanks to excellent fiber anchoring.

Due to their longer nip dwell times and the associated risk of seam markings, seam felts were seldom used at shoe presses in the past. The shoe press belt is driven across the felt, resulting in high levels of local longitudinal stress in the felt. This makes the seam in the press nip vulnerable to overstretching, thus causing it to open easily and leave markings in the paper/board. With the new ProSeam SP seam felt design Huyck.Wangner has succeeded in creating the first high-performance seam felt for these demanding applications. The basis for the design is a special weave pattern and optimized manufacturing processes that noticeably improves integration of the seaming loops.

In addition to the proven ProSeam 2 seam felt, which is ideal for a wide range of applications, and the unique ProSeam SP for shoe press positions, Huyck.Wangner has also created new felt designs for additional paper machine positions:

• ProSeam TX - for fast running paper machines where high nip dewatering is key
• ProSeam 3 - for positions with high water volumes and/or high nip loads in the press section
• ProSeam XT - double seam felt design for managing extreme water volumes in the press section at packaging grades.
